Mineral Processing of Silica Sand in Hanout Area/South of Jordan

White sandstone samples from Hanout area of Late Cambrian-Early Ordovician in south Jordan were studied and assessed as a source glass sand. Upgrading the sand included removing or reducing content contaminant oxides heavy minerals. The aim this research was to achieve upgrading by examining best-suited cost-effective processing method(s) with sufficient product recovery. Following initial sample characterisation at “bench scale”, pilot study performed. A high-grade Glass Sand 500 - 125 μm size fraction produced wet screening, attrition scrubbing separation minerals using spirals. high quality compared well Grade-A British Standard for Due relatively low level impurities raw material, substantial silica recovery grade. capable be used industry many other applications where pure is required. mass flowrate feeds products spiral calculated bulk amount water required operating process.
